Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book?
I typically get booked 12+ months in advance, especially for peak wedding season (May–September). The earlier you reach out, the better chance you have of securing your date. That said, I occasionally have last-minute availability, so it's always worth asking!
What music do you play?
My specialities are 80s bangers, 90s RnB, disco, funk & soul, modern house, and Kisstory-style throwbacks. The kind of music that gets every generation on the dance floor. I'm less experienced with afrobeats, grime, and heavy hip-hop, so if those are central to your event, I might not be the best fit. I'd rather be honest upfront and make sure we're a great match musically!
How much do you charge?
Prices start at £400 for a 4-hour set (typically 7pm–11pm), with additional hours at £100/hour. This includes my full setup, travel within a reasonable distance, and all the prep work beforehand. For destination events, travel and accommodation are quoted separately. Get in touch with your details and I'll send a tailored quote within 24 hours.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes! I arrive with a complete professional setup including high-quality speakers, lighting, DJ booth, and all necessary cables and backups. My equipment is modern and sleek, and looks great without dominating the room. That said, if your venue already has a sound system or you're working with a production company, I'm equally happy with plug-and-play arrangements. We can discuss what works best for your space.
How much space do you need?
Not much! My setup is compact by design. I typically need around 2m x 1.5m for my DJ booth, decks, and speakers. I'm used to working in all kinds of spaces, from grand ballrooms to intimate marquees, and I'll always work with you and your venue to find the best position for sound and aesthetics.
Do you use smoke machines?
No, I don't use smoke or haze machines. In my experience, they almost always set off fire alarms - especially in hotels and historic venues - which is the last thing you want mid-party! If atmosphere effects are important to you, I'd recommend discussing alternatives with your venue's production team.
What's your microphone style?
Simple, understated, and to the point. No booming "radio DJ" voice, no cheesy catchphrases, no talking over the music. I'll make announcements when needed (first dance, cake cutting, speeches) but otherwise I let the music do the talking. Your guests came to dance, not listen to me!
Do you travel for events?
Absolutely! I've DJed across Europe in venues from Lake Como to Claridge's. Travel costs depend on the location. UK events within a couple of hours are usually included in the price, while destination events are quoted separately. I'm always happy to discuss the logistics.
Can we meet before booking?
Of course! I'm happy to jump on a video call or meet in person if you're local. It's important that you feel confident and comfortable before booking. We can discuss your vision, go through music preferences, and answer any questions you have. No pressure, no hard sell.
Do you take requests on the night?
Yes, within reason! I'm always happy to take requests that fit the vibe and keep the dance floor moving. Before your event, we'll agree on any must-play tracks and any songs to avoid. On the night, I'll use my judgement to blend requests into the set seamlessly. If a request would kill the energy, I'll politely hold it for the right moment.
What happens if you're ill or can't make it?
This has never happened in 10 years, but I have a network of trusted, experienced DJs who could step in at short notice if the worst were to occur. I'd never leave you without cover, and I'd personally brief any replacement on your preferences and requirements.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes, I carry full public liability insurance (£10 million) and PAT-tested equipment. I can provide certificates to your venue on request - most venues require this and I'm used to the process.
